Policy directions in Teacher Education and Professional Development: implications for FE and Skills practitioners after de-regulation Annual Conference 2013 in conjunction with the Teacher Educators’ Lifelong Learning (TELL) network Denise Robinson Director Consortium and HUDCETT - Report

Where we are today - Funding With the ending of HEFCE funding many HEI provision has experienced a drop in student numbers No bursaries next year Ending of SFA funding for courses above level 4 Loans for L5 Awarding Body provision?

Where we are today – Regs and Inspections Facing deregulation in Sept 2013 for FETT qualifications (IfL membership and CPD requirements went in 2012) The LSIS Framework – mapping of HE provision – but greater changes for AB provision Impact of the ‘no notice’ Ofsted system and the pressure of ‘requires improvement’ grades

Education and Training Foundation (FE Guild) Essentially an employer organisation. Lingfield regarded professional matters to be the concern of the employer/employee relationship – not the state. Future role – see how this develops but little funding – most work will be outsourced

Developments at Huddersfield Developed Postgraduate Diploma – for those seeking a ‘fast track’ to a masters Extended the APEL/Bridging facility – to support progression to 2 nd year The blended learning model of delivery of the BA in Education & Professional Development to be offered nationally

Support for Teacher Educators/Practitioners We will continue to support: Tuition fees for CPCET tutors (nearly 300 over the last 11 yrs) Projects Annual Conference Events and other conferences (84 held over the last 12 yrs) Journal Teaching in Lifelong Learning- eprints.hud.ac.uk/journa/till eprints.hud.ac.uk/journa/till
