Student-Learning Outcomes #1 - The student will demonstrate a competent level of knowledge in Theatre and Drama. #2 - The student will display the ability to communicate about Theatre verbally and with the written word. 2 Program Quality Improvement Report

#3.A - The student will demonstrate competency in the area of Performance. #3.A.1–The student will create line readings and interpretations that are appropriate and skillful. #3.A.2 - The student will create a physical interpretation that is appropriate and skillful. #3.A.3 - The student will create an emotional interpretation that is appropriate and skillful. Alignment with the Department/Program of Theatre Arts Mission Statement The Bachelor of Arts degree with a Major in Theatre provides a program of study focusing on opportunities for personal and artistic development and growth, as well as opportunities to develop collaboration, communication, reasoning and leadership skills required for life-long learning, professional careers in theatre or related areas. Students pursuing the program in Theatre Arts should achieve a level of competence in performance, technical theatre, and the academic areas of theatre history, literature and criticism/ analysis. They acquire skills in each of these areas through the department’s course offerings, as well as through its production program. Program Quality Improvement Report

This past February students competed in the Irene Ryan Acting Competition at the regional level. Students also entered the stage management and property design competition at this level. Program Quality Improvement Report

Goal 2.9 Enhance and promote an active campus life by focusing on athletics, cultural events, student programs, and organizations. The department provides a minimum of four productions each year. Action Plan #3.B.1 –. The student will create a design that is integrated within the production concept. Design meetings will be held immediately following the department’s weekly production meetings to discuss with student designers the changes necessitated, to implement and integrate them into the production design. Program Quality Improvement Report

#3.B.2 – The student design will display a practical use of the elements (use of color, line, texture, mass, and composition) of design. The design faculty will implement a parallel structure and set of exercises on the use of the principles and elements in all design classes. Program Quality Improvement Report

#3.B.3 – The student stage manager will demonstrate effective basic skills. The department will increase the mentoring in this area. The mentor will meet at least weekly with the student stage manager to insure that they are generating and distributing the necessary paperwork needed for success as well as their promptbook being kept in an orderly fashion. A new set of exercises emphasizing the clarity and organization of the promptbook will be implemented in class. Program Quality Improvement Report

#3.B.4 –The student stage manager will show effectiveness as a liaison with the production staff. The department will increase the mentoring in this area. The mentor and director for the production will insure that the rehearsal reports are being generated and distributed to the proper personnel and clarify the stage manager’s relationship to the cast and crew.
