HOURS OF WORK AND REST Guidance Book on ILO 180 / MLC 2006 Vetting Committee & HEiSC recognised the ongoing difficulties by sea staff to comply with the current regulations for hours of work and rest. Once The Maritime Labour Convention comes into force it would be logical to assume that various Port State Control regimes would be instigating Concentrated Inspection Campaigns, (CIC) to verify compliance with the hours of work or rest onboard. This Books aims to address these areas.

HOURS OF WORK AND REST Contains: A summary of the ILO180 definitions, work and rest hours requirements. A summary of the STCW work and rest hours requirements. An explanation of the current minimum safe manning certificate. Broad guidelines regarding manning levels. Guidelines for compliance with requirements. Implementation of ILO 180 hours of work or rest. Maintaining records/endorsement monitoring/auditing. Watch keeping patterns. Optional watch keeping systems.
