 Baby Boomers  Generation X – Born after  Millennials - Born after 1980 – 2000  Millennials largest emerging group with 75 million employees set to join the workforce world wide and by 2020 Millennials will be approximately 50 percent of the U.S. workforce.  The ABS reported that in June 2011, there were 5.4 million Australians aged years.

IBM study of 1,784 employees from organizations across 12 countries and 6 industries, showed that 21% of millennials were likely to ‘follow their heart’ when making career decision compared to 16% with baby boomers. Deloitte surveyed 7,800 of tomorrow's leaders, from 29 countries, on effective leadership and how business operates and impacts society, found that 75% of millennials believe businesses are incorrectly focused on their own agendas rather than helping to improve society. Pewresearch (2010) conducted on 2020 US18-29 year olds.

 Passion is a prerequisite not a qualifier.  The value of values and vision.

 Research involving 3,500 millennial and baby boomer respondents across six companies found that “Managing Performance” and “Career Opportunities” were viewed as the most important engagement drivers for millennials. (Gilbert, 2011)  Blackhawk Engagement Solutions survey questioned 1,800 employed Americans and found that 85 percent of millennials want to be rewarded for exceeding personal performance levels, 80 percent for receiving a promotion, and 79 percent for exceeding team performance levels.  Jeff Lawson, chief executive of Twilio, a cloud communications company in San Francisco, suggests that “they’re not looking for constant praise, but rather they want to keep score on how they’re doing in all aspects of their career”.  Performance management, reward and recognition.

 Millennials were asked, do you have a profile on a social networking site? ‘Yes’ Millennials 75%, Gen X 50%, Boomers 30%. (PewReseach, 2010)  Do you sleep next to your cell phone? 80% of millennials said ‘yes’. (PewReseach, 2010)  Have you ever posted a video of yourself online? Only 7% of all surveyed said ‘yes’ with 20% of millennials surveyed saying ‘yes’ and Gen X at 2% (PewReseach, 2010)  Using social media for work. IBM Millennial business value survey found that 27% do not compared to baby boomers at 7%.

 Tech-infusion may lead to Tech-confusion.
