Body Organization 3 METHODS POINT-BY-POINT BLOCK COMBINATION

Point-by-Point The essay compares or contrasts the two subjects feature for feature. Every time something is written about one subject, something is written immediately on the same point about the second subject.

Block In this method, the writer tells everything about one subject in one paragraph. In the next paragraph, the writer tells everything about the second subject.

Combination In this method, the writer may discuss similarities (or differences) point-by-point and differences (or similarities) in the block method or vice versa. The combination method adds variety to longer essays.
