FINE ARTS EDUCATION IN MUSIC, ART, AND THEATER SHOULD BE EXPENDED NAME: MOHAMMED ABDULAZIZ INSTITUTION: ASU DATE: DECEMBER 3

INTRODUCTION Fine art is a term that is common in the western Academic traditions but in learning institutions and museums fine art is closely associated with visual arts. Fine art artefacts are created primarily for aesthetic purposes and an object of fine art is judged from its beauty and the meaning it conveys. Fine art focuses on the ability of the human mind to discriminate at the sensory level and from an opinion on a particular thing based on the sensory impact of the thing Visual perceptions have already been ingrained in the modern culture and with the rise of consumerism, consumers of art are inclined toward what is visually appealing.

WHY FINE ARTS EDUCATION SHOULD BE EXPENDED? The separation of fine arts education and the other forms of art such as theatre, art and music has only taken place in the academic disciplines. With the changing social tastes and preferences, the world has slowly merged performing arts, music and art with visual arts Those musicians who ignore the importance of fine arts in their production end up with very low sales. In music visual impact dominates over the objective analysis of the music. To the common folk music videos that are not aesthetically appealing are considered a failure.. Performing arts utilize aesthetics in form of storytelling, humor, beauty, drama and irony to please the audience. The producers of theatre consciously mixes aesthetics to improve their performance. Overcoming competition in the market for the modern expressions of art is pegged on producing products and commodities that are visually appealing. Fine art improves the appearance of the product and gives the producer a competitive edge in the market

WHY FINE ART EDUCATION SHOULD NOT BE EXPENDED. The combination of fine art, music, art and theatre compromises the academic integrity of each disciplines.. A lot of academic progress has been made when the disciplines are kept apart When fine art knowledge is combined with the other disciplines especially in the western world, there is a probability that they might be swallowed up in the capitalistic society’s obsession with appearance. Fine art is synonymous with aesthetics. If fine art education is mixed with music, art and theatre a particular consumer niche will be ignored

The tastes and preferences of art consumers are varied. Music, art and theatre performances are made to serve a particular faction of the society. When the forms of art are adulterated by fine art they lose their originality as forms of art. When the originality of each form of art is preserved art will serve the human race in more ways than fulfilling our consumerism needs.

CONCLUSION It is reasonable to argue that originality of art forms will be compromised when fine art education is expended in music, art and theatre studies. At the same time, the increased use of art can be a symbol that we are already in a new age in art.
