Tough Questions

The bottom line  There is no getting beyond the question for both Atheists and Christians:  Where did God/Natural Materials come from in the first place?

Stereotypes?  “Science without religion is lame, religion without science is blind”  “Religion is childish superstition.”

Creation / Evolution / Both?

If God is...  We need to be a little more comfortable with ambiguity on certain subjects  Faith is in things unseen and as we didn’t actually see creation we will never be certain as to how happened  We simply need to believe that God made it happen as in his almighty power he was capable of doing so

Celebrate Science  We should celebrate science as it brings us modern medicines, everyday conveniences we take for granted  Clean water  Cars  Phones   Everything has been accomplished through science

Respond with Faith  Faith is a genuine response to the wonders which science cannot fully explain  Astronaut John Glenn said in space, “To look out at this kind of creation out here and not believe in God is to me impossible.”  Science falls short of answering the ‘why?’ which many ask about their place in the grand scheme of the universe they live in

Answering Questions  Be prepared  Encourage the enquiry/enquirer  Be vulnerable  Agree to disagree  Where possible, point them to the cross
