This is an opportunity for parents/guardians to get last minute holiday shopping done and give students time for their own holiday event with their classmates. This event will give your child the option of watching: “ELF” or “Santa Claus” The PTO will be providing popcorn and a holiday cookie table for students to have the opportunity to decorate and enjoy. Where: Addison Middle School Cafeteria When: December 18 th Cost: $1.00 or a canned good Admission will be donated to the Act-n-Do 12/14 Students graded themselves using the rubrics that they were given. They presented their weather projects to the class. 12/15 The students finished presenting the projects and answered Focus Question 2: Why do we study weather? Students also graphed the high and low temperatures from last week and from the same week last year. 12/16 The students viewed a weather forecast and as groups wrote what tools they thought a meteorologist used to predict weather. 12/17 The students viewed different tools that meteorologists use to forecast the weather. 12/18 The students reviewed types of severe weather using brainppo.com. 12/21 Students will show their knowledge of severe weather by explaining how they would react in different extreme weather situations. 12/22 The students will write claims and evidence answering the Big Question: What are the measurable causes of weather and how does weather impact our world? We will also review the different forms of severe weather and weather tools that are used to forecast weather. 12/23 Test on severe weather and tools used to forecast the weather.

6 th Grade Weekly Newsletter Math with Ms. York Week in Review This week students worked on developing number lines in the opposite direction (to the left or below zero) horizontally and vertically. Students also used positive integers to locate negative integers, understanding that a number and its opposite will be on opposite sides of zero and that both lie the same distance from zero. Students are now able to represent the opposite of a positive number as a negative number and vice- versa.
