A Women Who Made a Difference By: Maranda Buchanan

Early Life  One woman who made a difference was Amelia Earhart.  Amelia was born on July 24,1897.  She was born in Atchison, Kansas  She was the first of two children.

Adult Life  Amelia Earhart married George Putman in  They never had children.  She attended nursing school after high school.  She was also a pilot.

Major Accomplishments  She was the first woman to fly a plane across the Atlantic Ocean.  She proved women could do daring things.  Amelia received a medal from President Herbert Hoover.  What does this mean to me? It means women can do daring and remarkable things!

Later Life  In 1937, Amelia Earhart tried to fly her plane around the world, but something terrible happened.  She and her plane disappeared.  She was never found.
