INTRODUCTION Nurses are one of the most challenging careers today. Based on research, Nurses have one of the highest stress ratios. The main significant factors associated with stress were conflicts with the doctors, heavy work load, lack of support and others. The various effects of stress are low work quality, health effects, work related accidents and others. Our study take place at one of the private hospital in Kuala Lumpur and the focus is about nurses that working in area of Emergency, Haemodialysis, ward, operation room, and Intensive Care Unit (ICU) as our subject in studying stress among them. The factors that we consider in this study is, workload, physical task, shift work, and the relation/conflict that involve in the nurses career

OBJECTIVES To identifiy the stress level and its relation to the work performance among the Nurses To collect the statistical data about Nurses who are in stress To identify and determine the sources of the stress To determine the environmental condition of the working area To approach the suitable solution for stress among the Nurses.

METHODOLOGY One of the private hospitals in Kuala Lumpur Data collected (randomly) from questionnaire which contained 21 question 5 different department :Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit, Ward, Operation Room and Haemodialysis. level stress low stress :20 to 30 marks. Moderate level : 31 to 40 marks high level : 41 to 60 marks.

DISCUSSION Operation Room is the higher number of staff who have high level of stress Physical task is the highest factor among the 4 factors which is 43.33% . Existing System In Operating Room, almost of the staff are working in standing and walk while working. Also many lifting activity such as lifting patient and operation item.

NEW SYSTEM APPROACH Administrative. Engineering Perform rotation system among the nurses To limit the time of standing work position = 2 hrs Train each nurse on how to do proper manual lifting on patients. Engineering Use the proper and appropriate shoes Use of a proper lifting device installing stools in the area

CONCLUSION We found out that the Operation Room staffs have the highest level of stress and the main factor is the physical task. It is important to reduce occupational stress in nurses and to strengthen their coping resources to prevent nurse burnout. This could be achieved with modification of the system, engineering and administrative control.
