Pollution Kyle McSherry Kayley Roberton Shamaiya Watts

Cigarette Smoke Kayley Roberston  Litter consists of waste products such as containers, papers, wrappers, or feces which have been disposed without consent.  To litter means to throw objects onto the ground and leave them, as opposed to disposing of them properly.  Litter can exist in the environments for long periods of time before degrading and being transported large distances into the world’s oceans.  Cigarette butts are the most littered item in the world.  Visual pollution is a major effect of litter.

Air Pollution Kyle McSherry  Air pollution is the introduction of chemicals, particulate matter, or biological materials that cause harm or discomfort to humans or other living organisms, or cause damage to the natural environment or built environment, into the atmosphere.  Indoor air pollution and urban air quality are listed as two of the world's worst pollution problems  Primary pollutants are directly emitted from a process, such as ash from a volcanic eruption, the carbon monoxide gas from a motor vehicle exhaust or sulfur dioxide released from factories  Secondary pollutants are not emitted directly. Rather, they form in the air when primary pollutants react or interact  Air pollution is a significant risk factor for multiple health conditions including respiratory infections, heart disease, and lung cancer

Chemical Pollution Shamaiya Watts  Pesticides used to kill insect and/or rodents contain chemicals that are not good to animals or the environment.  Chemical pollution also comes from cleaning products, lawn and garden, and pool chemicals.  Although fertilizer is good for plants; when it rains the fertilizer mixes with rain water which pollutes our water supply.  Toxic or harmful substances are also pollution because they can hurt someone or an animal if consumed.  It is better to use nontoxic cleaning solutions around your home because they will not harm the environment or humans.
