SCH Controls Readiness Review: Site 2015

SCH Controls Readiness Review: Site UNIQUE HAZARDS: Significant fields in adjoining magnet cells Magnetic field is larger than a normal magnet cell Platform is much taller Cryogens, Quench

SCH Controls Readiness Review: Site Magnetic Fields HAZARDS: Significant fields in adjoining cells Personnel access to very high fields under magnet POSSIBLE CONTROLS: Tape on floor in adjacent cells Light or field indicator in other cells Tape on floor, user training in SCH cell. Restricted access under shield

SCH Controls Readiness Review: Site Electrical Shock HAZARDS: Exposed magnet power cable & bus connections on hydrant Exposed electrical components on rear electrical platform POSSIBLE CONTROLS: Stab / switch covers Restricted access behind magnet LO/TO for maintenance

SCH Controls Readiness Review: Site Fall HAZARDS: 12’ tall platform Access gate Lifting items onto platform Carrying items up stairs POSSIBLE CONTROLS: Caution square on floor next to gate w signage Harness area at gate Lock on the gate. Normal OSHA handrails

SCH Controls Readiness Review: Site Material Handling Magnet Coils 6’ Research Dewar > 7’ Probes HAZARDS: Tripping while going up stairs Falling items when hoisting up to platform Falls with gate open. POSSIBLE CONTROLS: Use crane to lift coils, probes Crane training User Support Assistance Small pass through in handrail for probes.

SCH Controls Readiness Review: Site ODH HAZARDS: Nitrogen slow leak Nitrogen fast release Helium fast release – Quench vent CONTROLS: All N2 vents piped to outside O2 sensor at rear of cell for N2 Vented helium stored in ceiling area: He stored volume: 70 liquid liters Flow shutdown interlocks 200 liquid liters = 5280 SCUFT Open Ceiling area = 5900 SQFT.

Thank You!
