I. Three language-based websites voki.com goanimate.com lingtclassroom.com II. Free iPads Apps (for Mandarin teachers)

Why did I choose these websites? Great tools for any teachers of any language Work for teaching any discipline Students have 24-hour-access to the websites Not limited to one location Teachers can monitor students’ use Reflect a more natural way of learning Limitation: These web tools won’t work on iPads because they have Flash Player

voki.com Students can: Create customized avatars according to the scenarios given by the instructors Add voice to voki avatars (practice presentational communication) Post voki to any blog, website or profile Using voki will: Lower students’ anxiety of public speaking Motivate students to participate Integrate technology in a fun way Promote project based learning and rubric assessment

goanimate.com Students can: Create customized characters and backgrounds Initiate dialogues between the characters Type or record the dialogues (practice keyboarding and interpersonal communication) Share the video with friends Goanimate will: Create videos quickly and easily (a lot of characters, backgrounds and props to choose from) Provide a fun way to engage students Offer embedded learning Promote project-based learning and rubric assessment

lingtlanguage.com Supports language teachers by helping them: Create online assignments using spoken performance Generate targeted feedback maximizing students’ improvement Incorporate videos and images, creating cultural-rich, multi-media exercises Archive students’ responses to track their improvements
