Ministry of Science and Technology has the following functions: To formulate policies and strategies for the development of science and technology; To normalise, standardise, regulate and co-ordinate the areas dealing with the development of science and technology; To plan, monitor, evaluate and analyse the development of science and technology; To promote scientific research and technological innovation; To promote the dissemination of science and technology;

Ministry of Science and Technology has the following functions: To promote the valorisation and dissemination of local knowledge; To promote the protection of intellectual copyrights; To promote methodologies for research and technological innovation that are based on professional ethical values and which are beneficial for social, economic and cultural development of the country; To promote development through the introduction of new and frontier technologies; To co-ordinate activities related to research and development of technologies.

UTICT – ICT Policy Implementation Technical Unit is the executive arm of the Public Sector Reform Inter-Ministerial Commission (CIRESP) a government organization chaired by the Prime Minister and mandated to oversee the public sector reform in general and the construction of the Information Society trough implementation of the approved ICT Policy. UTICT is responsible for: –Advising the government and other national institutions on ICT related policies & needs; – Developing the Information Society through ICT Programs, activities & projects; –Supporting and facilitating partnerships with national and international organizations –Promoting the development of an advanced, competitive national ICT industry –Aligning ICT interventions with national development objectives and poverty reduction strategy –Mobilizing national and international resources to implement ICT Programs & projects –Promoting and guiding ICT research & development –Contributing to creation of basic conditions for ICT development in the areas of human capacity, infrastructure, content, applications, legislation, training and governance; –Defining norms for ICT training & certification and expand training in all education areas; –Coordinate the implementation of the Mozambican eGovernment Strategy & and ICT programs What do we do

CIEUM CIUEM – a unit within the university dedicated to service provision, research and extension: works in all technical areas of ICT, training, content development and Web, distance learning platform, etc; pioneered national telecentre and CMC movement.
