Spot the potato

There are over 5,000 different varieties of potato all with different properties and good in different recipes! Look at the following pictures and decide whether you think they are potatoes or not.

Purple Majesty Yes – this is a type of potato. They are a floury potato which means they are great for mash.

Spot the potato Russet Burbank Yes – this is a type of potato. These starchy potatoes are often used to make chips.

Spot the potato Beetroots No – this is not a type of potato. Beetroots are often used in salads or bright purple beetroot soups.

Spot the potato Russian Banana Yes – despite the funny name this is a type of potato. These potatoes make great boiled potatoes.
