THEIR EYES WERE WATCHING GOD CHP 1-4 By: Amy, Melissa, & Riley.

“ Well, Ah see Mouth- Almighty is still sittin’ in de same place. And Ah reckon they got me up in they mouth now.” “ An envious heart makes a treacherous ear.”  Janie’s back (Back again... Guess who’s back. Guess who’s back...)  She is the talk of the town.  Sir- Phoebes-A-Lot comes to visit.  Janie’s adventures unravel.

 Remembers when she realized she was black.  Got scolded for kissing Johnny “Pimp” Taylor. “Naw, Nanny, naw, Ah ain’t no real ‘oman yet.” “Ah don’t want yo’ feathers always crumpled by folks throwin’ up things in yo’ face.”  Must get married.  Gets a lecture from Grams about growing up.

 Gets married to Logan Killicks.  Talks to her Granny.  Realizes she doesn't love Logan even though she wants to.  Becomes a woman. "She knew now marriage did not make love." "Ah wants to want him sometimes. Ah don't want him to do all the wantin”.
