An American Empire - Imperialism The idea of The United States of America embellishing itself into an Imperialistic Empire derived after the Spanish-American war in Because the US was a innovative nation, it need to stand out. By becoming an empire, the country would gain political, economic, military and cultural influences around the world!

History of Hawaii & Alaska Hawaii The French has a lot of involvement in the history of Hawaii. France attempted to control Hawaii through various means. Hawaii was annexed into the United States in 1898, and in 1959, it was inducted into the US as our 50 th State. Alaska Alaska was a rich land, and many countries attempted to annex it, including Spain and Britain though Russia already owned it. On April 9, 1867, North America bought Alaska on the Alaska Purchase. In January of 1959, Alaska became our 49 th state.

Alaska & Hawaii – Importance Hawaii The Us intervened in Hawaii because they didn't want the Hawaii to become apart of the European Empire. A treaty of friendship and eventually a 50 th state came from this intervention. Alaska America gained Alaska because Russia was suffering rough economic times an sold the country to the US to keep it out of the hands of Great Britain. Alaska is a state the is rich in gold and oil.

Hawaiian Treatment Hawaiians were sought as an outcast race in the eyes of America. The US government overthrew the Hawaiian queen so that she could be replaced by a US leader. The US was very racist against Hawaii and to a certain degree, used them.

Right or Wrong? IN my opinion, I think that the annex of Hawaii and Alaska was the right thing to do. If we had not gained those two states in our country and let, for say the European Empire take these countries over, we could have been overpowered and annexed ourselves. In the case of Alaska, had we not taken the country, we could have Russia as an enemy.
