What does this mean? Democracy pg Democracy – is a governing system in which the people of the country take part Government created by the citizens, and run by the citizens for the good of the citizens

Citizens in a Democracy vote and are free to choose their government leaders Democracy works well when the people participate and stay informed on what is going on in their country and the world What does this mean? Democracy pg People need to participate in a democracy and be a good citizen in order to be aware of what is happening around them

Democracy pg The ancient Greeks in the city of Athens formed the first democracy Their democracy was a direct democracy A direct democracy means that each citizen that cast a vote had a direct role in making every decision

Democracy pg Citizens in today’s democracies do not have direct control over the goings on of the government Instead the citizens vote for a group of people to represent them in government and make the decisions, this is called a representative democracy
