“What is the Music Development Program?”

Music Development Program: A Holistic Approach Supports the well-rounded and complete musician regardless of age and level of study Helps guide students and teachers in choosing appropriate repertoire An effectively sequenced system of music study from beginner to advanced levels Repertoire, etudes, technique, ear training, sight reading at each level

Why a National Standard ? Provides a clear, consistent, and meaningful structure for recognizing achievement Creates a national community that celebrates the musical achievements of students, families and teachers Ensures quality for all students regardless of where they are located

Who are the Adjudicators? The adjudicating body includes over 350 distinguished teachers and performers from across North America All adjudicators must successfully complete a training program that includes an intensive series of lectures and demonstrations Adjudicators are trained to provide constructive feedback in a positive setting Adjudicators are very well-qualified, providing specific and accurate feedback

Assessment Sessions for Winter: Theory Examinations December 11-12, 2015 Spring: Performance Examinations May 15 - June 5, 2016

What can my students expect in a Performance Assessment? Performance Assessments test repertoire, technique and musicianship (ear training and sight reading) Assessments are taken in a one-on-one setting Adjudicators maintain a positive and comfortable environment for students Length of assessment varies depending on level

What does the assessment process involve? Step-by-Step Process: 1.Parents sign up for an account online, which then allows you to sign up for an assessment during the registration period 2.Student prepares for and takes assessment 3.Approximately two weeks later, student receives score via 4.Shortly thereafter, student receives of score with adjudicator comments 5.Student receives Royal Conservatory Music Development Program Certificate for completing the level in which they participated
