The basic goal of the Hazard Communication standard is to be sure employers, employees and students know about work hazards and how to protect themselves. Inventory of Hazardous Chemicals n List includes other substances that may be generated by an operation or process. n An MSDS must be available for each chemical listed.

n An MSDS is available for each substance listed on the inventory. n All MSDSs are reviewed to make sure that they are complete. n Documentation is available to indicate efforts to obtain MSDSs.

Container Labeling n All containers must be properly labeled, tagged or marked. –Identify chemical contained –Show hazard warnings appropriate for employee protection. » »Must be legible » »Must be in English » »Must be prominently displayed

n The name on the container corresponds with the name on the inventory list and product MSDS. n A review system has been established to ensure that all labels are correct and up to date. n All labels contain an appropriate warning of any physical and/or health hazards. n All labels contain the name and address of the manufacturer and/or responsible party.
