Mandatory warm-up activity Activity 1 Activity 2 Activity 3

Before we begin our nature walk or any activity we need to properly warm up. WE need to stretch all of the muscles that will be involved in each activity. Today our stretching needs to include our arms, shoulders, legs, and back muscles. Our objective today is to exhibit a physically active lifestyle. Here are the stretches we need to do today. Return to home page

While you are embarking on your nature walk you should obtain information that will allow you to construct a timeline with a time span of at least 10 years Sep 8 Ruby Nell Bridges is born in Tylertown, Mississippi, daughter of Abon and Lucille Bridges. Example Timeline: 1958 Her family moves to New Orleans A federal court ordered the desegregation of public schools of New Orleans at the start of the 1960 school year. Ruby passes the New Orleans School Board test. The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People N A A C P. argues successfully to send Ruby to the William Frantz Public School For Whites in the Ninth Ward in New Orleans, Louisiana. She becomes the first to attend an integrated school. November 14 Her first day at school, flanked in front and back by United States Federal Marshals Spends her first grade school year alone in the classroom with one teacher, Mrs. Barbara Henry from Boston, Massachusetts. Choose from one of the following biomes After this activity students will be able to collaborate on temperate forests and determine by pictures. Return to first page tropical rainforests temperate rainforests deserts tundra coniferous forests savannas prairies deciduous forests In groups of 3, assign each person a job. Question asker, computer user, presenter. Presentation must include 3 pictures of the biome. Discuss the climate, plant-life and animal-life. Compare and contrast your biome and Holmes water park. Tylertown is famous for their Sonic Drive In. Sonic has a different variety of foods that contain many calories. They have menu and nutrition list on the website listed at During this activity, we will determine how many calories each person consumes in one meal and how many he burns while walking. A person weighing 130 pounds will burn 207 calories if he walks 2 laps around at a moderate speed at Holmes Water Park. A person weighing 155 lbs will burn 246 calories, and a person weighing 190 lbs will burn 302 calories. Return to first page Next page

There are 3500 calories in a pound; therefore, each individual has to burn 3500 calories just to lose one pound. Calculate how many calories you consumed at lunch, how many you burned while walking and how many pounds you lost or gained. You will present this to the class. Return to first pageMath 1b, 2b, 4a
