How to be successful in Mrs. Bartlett’s class

Come to class prepared –Have all your materials Black/blue pen or pencil Highlighter College-ruled notebook paper Binder Dividers Homework

Act responsibly! –Have your homework ready the night before it is due. –Get to class on time. –Be respectful to others. –Put materials back after using them. –Don’t whine. Instead, ask questions if you don’t understand!

Turn off cell phones and mp3 players –Make sure they are off and put away EXCEPT during tests. –Test policy: phones are off and on the edge of your desk.

Bring food or accessories into class. –Food causes roaches and mice to infest the classroom. Drinks leave sticky messes. –Water is okay if it has a screw-top lid. –Beauty and hair accessories should be used outside of class. This includes chapstick!

Cheat. –Plagiarism or cheating of any kind is not tolerated. –It is an automatic D-1 and a zero on the assignment. –It’s not worth it!

Possible Consequences Phone calls or s home (not happy) After school detention for 30 minutes Objects will be taken (cell phones, make-up, brushes, chapstick, etc.) D-1 and office discipline PTO (don’t make Mrs. Bartlett send you there!)

Possible Rewards Phone calls or s home (happy ones) Free time in class Homework passes Being Mrs. Bartlett’s favorite student Less homework!

Class Procedures As soon as you enter the classroom every day, get out your notebook, turn in your homework, check for any handouts on the table, and begin the warm-up. Warm-ups will only be up for a limited time! Expect assigned seats all semester! Remain in your seats until dismissed by me. Lining up at the door is a pet peeve of mine, and it means it will actually take you LONGER to leave the classroom.

Grading Policies 45% of my grade will be TEST grades. This includes tests, projects, written essays, etc. 25% of my grade will be DAILY grades. This includes daily homework and classwork activities. 30% of my grade will be any QUIZ grades. This includes pop quizzes and warm-up grades and many other assignments.

Being Absent We will do work every day. You will always miss something if you are not here. Always will check the make-up work binder after being absent AND check with me. It is YOUR responsibility to get make-up work—I won’t track you down! If you know you will be absent, let me know in advance! Bring your absence note from home and turn it in to the office first thing in the morning. You will be expected to turn in absent work quickly so you don’t get behind. (2 days after absence)

Late Work? Homework is turned in at the beginning of class; otherwise, I won’t take it. Big grades (projects, tests, etc.) get a 10 point per day penalty for being late. Weekends are included in late days. You can turn in late projects via , but they won’t be graded until you also bring a printed copy.

Ways to Contact Me With attachments: –I do NOT check this nightly. With questions: –I DO check this nightly. Stop by Room 209 or 201 before or after school.
