Objectives New building, new direction.  Mission: “To promote a healthy and active lifestyle in Aruba”  Vision: “To create and maintain a healthy and active Aruba”

Health Promotion New Formula IBiSA = IDEFRE + Health = Health Prom. A different way of looking at health and physical activity in Aruba, where combined they have a greater impact on quality of life and prevention of obesity and NCD’s.

Goals  Integrated plan for health promotion  Create awareness, develop and execute interventions with regards to overweight obesity and NCD’S (Community Based Interventions).  Reduce health care cost and strengthen self care  Coordinate initiatives and activities with regards to health promotion ( sport, PA and health)  Create and maintain public private partnerships that contribute to a healthier and more active Aruba

1 st Year Infancy  Reorganizing and educating personnel  Creative solutions to deal with budget limitations (ppp)  Profiling institute, Informing community/exposure  Introduction Bus di Salud and health assessment, and involve partners  Weganan di Rey ( Coronation Games )

Successes  Over 5500 visitors on the ‘Bus di Salud’in approximate 8 months.  Explosive growth in participation of walks/runs over the last 2 years, a growth to 22,195 participants in 2012  Sales figures of sports material and equipment have gone up, with approximate 40 %  Noticeably more people walking, running and biking  Nat. Health Ins. invests in prevention and health promotion  Private sector is investing in health promotion  Collaboration with hotels, supermarkets, NGO’s  IBiSA Website  Infrastructure that supports physical activity

Projects, Activities and services  ‘Ciclovia’, Sports for All  ‘Festival di Deporte’(Olympics), School sports and inter insular  Research, sports participation and activity level  Exercise is Medicine  Health screening and life style advise via Bus di Salud.  Healthy Schools and Healthy communities  Providing sports equipment and materials for community and school activities  Community projects in all districts of Aruba

 In connection with PACO III of Health, which is taking place in Aruba IBiSA together with IPA held a competition for the students. Their goal was to develop tutoring material to introduce the healthy Sailboat as a guide for healthy living. This material will be used during their training period at the primary school. Some of their work can be seen at the exposition table in the hallway.
