In math class, to help us learn about percentage and decimals, we were asked by Brad King (a smoothie company manger) to design and invent a smoothie. Our smoothie needed to have less than 60 kcals and it had to have a total mass of 100 g. We were told to make 4 different smoothies and lastly, we had to choose one smoothie and we had to design a package. Here is a link to help you understand more about our project and what we had to do:
Lemon in Smoothie: 35 g 100g=20 kcal 1g= (20/100) 0.2 kcal 35g= (0.2*35) 7 kcal Raspberry in Smoothie: 55g 100g=49 kcal 1g= (49/100) 0.49 kcal 55g= (0.49*55) kcal Water in Smoothie: 10 g 100g= 0 kcal 1g= 0 kcal 10g= 0 kcal
Raspberry Lemon Water 55% 35% 10% Veronica and Izabela Mango Strawberry Milk 45% 10% 44.5 Veronica and Izabela Blueberry Blackberry Raspberry 30% 40% 30% 52.3 Veronica and Izabela Orange Apple Peach 30% 40% Veronica and Izabela 53.8
Sour Mouth \ Veronica Kuzma & Izabela Jaszcz Dream High Veronica Kuzma & Izabela Jaszcz Berry Good Veronica Kuzma & Izabela Jaszcz Dr. Smoothie (one smoothie a day keeps the doctor away) Veronica Kuzma & Izabela Jaszcz
Once we had gathered all our information we designed a package so that our smoothie would look interesting to drink out of because not only does the inside of a smoothie matter but also the outside. We examined many different formats and finally decided on a package that would be easy to put straws in and drink out of and yet look awesome and cool. To the right is a picture of our package design with all our nutrition facts and labels on. We had created a tasty, appealing smoothie to help Brad King that everyone would want to buy and will destroy all the other competition.
