Physical Characteristics Chameleons have long, sticky tongues to help them catch food. Chameleons have very prehensile tails to help them climb. Chameleons have rotating eyes for defense reasons. Chameleons also vary in color and size.

Behavioral Characteristics CChameleons are surprisingly shy. CChameleons’ colors change to blend in to their surroundings. CChameleons are carnivores.

Habitat CChameleons like to live in deserts. CChameleons like to live in rain forests. CChameleons are sometimes sold as pets.

Food Preferences CChameleons like to eat small mammals. CChameleons also like to eat insects.

Interesting Facts CChameleons nest in the ground and lay their eggs there. CChameleons lay their eggs in rotting leaf litter.
