6 Educational Benefit Activity What is Educational Benefit Activity? Definition: The Educational Benefit Activity is a process that examines the quality of the IEPs to determine students access, participation and progress towards general education curriculum and settings. Purpose: The purpose of the Educational Benefit Review Process is to determine whether the design of the individualized educational program (IEP) was reasonably calculated for the student to receive educational benefit. Currently Cycle 3 is offering professional development on: District Representative Workshop highlights their responsibilities at an IEP meeting. IEP clinic workshops help staff work through their IEP’s that they are currently in the process of writing and receive support in its development. Transportation: This workshop reviews the process for students receiving specialized bussing Functional Behavioral Assessments/ Behavioral Intervention Plan: This workshop reviews the procedure for developing the behavior plans for the appropriate students SEC Placement: This workshop is for psychologists and family workers to understand the SEC placement system.
