Border Patrol Immigration Policy Presentation Keona T. Nicole N. Maira S. John S.

Context Who had the problem? ●U.S. What’s the problem? ●Border Security is weak and corrupt (selling drugs, abusing immigrants..etc) How did we solve the problem? ●We solved the problem by holding agents accountable for their crimes (firing, prosecuting..etc)

What change did we make to Obama’s Policy? ● Altered the requirements to become a Border Agent ● Created guidelines for the Agents to follow. ● Agents are required to take a 30-day training course ● Monitored for the first year of service Why was the change necessary? ● The change was necessary because there was a large amount of unqualified and corrupt Border Agents supervising the U.S. Border Border Security

Reason 1 ●Powerful Border security agents are abusing migrants. ●Agents aren’t being punished/held accountable. ●Migrants deserve justice citizen OR not.

Relations ●The U.S. border patrol should be in contact with the neighboring countries to provide maximum security all along the borders. ●On the border along Mexico, both parties should be putting in effort to help protect each others countries. Reason 2

Reason 3 Border Agents In Action ❖ According to the arizona republic, in the past decade border agents have shot to death 46 people including 15 americans. ❖ A teen was killed from across the border for throwing rocks. ❖ Firing weapons across international borders is an act of war and can create international incidents. ❖ On multiple occasions agents have stepped in front of moving vehicles to stop them without jurisdiction.

★ Our revised policy will provide agents with the training they need in order to successfully secure the border. ★ New tactics/procedures ★ Decrease the deaths of immigrants. In Conclusion
