December 29, 2008 Mission to Mars2 Building a Martian Landscape :: the base Objectives –Using the landscape blueprint, reproduce your design onto a base of Styrofoam boards. Materials List –Styrofoam insulation boards –Styrofoam adhesive –Landscape blueprint –Red sharpie pen –Ruler –Utility knife –Wikipedia – scale cecraft cecraft –Martian Dollars, as per budget Procedure –The landscape will be built into 4 modules. –Each module is to be assigned to a team member –The overall landscape is 8’ X 8’ –Label each module using letters and identify and mark the adjacent sides of the modules –Divide your blueprint into four equal parts –Draw a grid on each module taking into account the scale that you used for your blueprint –Reproduce the blueprint onto the modules by converting the scaled dimensions to real size. –This should create a contour map to real scale. –Verify your module’s layout and ensure that the adjacent landscape features line up from one module to another.
