On September 11, 2001, the U.S. suffered the worst terrorist attacks in its history. The destruction of the World Trade Center?s twin towers was quickly followed by bioterrorism, in the form of a series of anthrax- tainted letters that killed five people and shut down the U.S. Capitol.

The American response was swift, with war in Afghanistan and major appropriations for military defense. - Preparedness not only defends the population against biological attacks but puts the medical community in a better position to react to natural outbreaks, such as HIV and West Nile virus. - Another important response to terrorism, however, is attention to a vital medical component of national defense: the public?s mental health. mental health

The Political Use of Terrorism in Contemporary Society - Course Requirements: Students are expected to attend all classes, and to complete the reading assignments prior to class. - Any absence requires a College-approved excuse (such as is available for a medical emergency ).

-For years, Mitch Rapp's bold actions have saved the lives of countless Americans. - He has killed with impunity, tortured to avert disaster, and shown he will do whatever it takes to prevent terrorists from fulfilling their bloody wishes.

- In See No Evil, one of the CIA’s top field officers of the past quarter century recounts his career running agents in the back alleys of the Middle East. - In the process, Robert Baer paints a chilling picture of how terrorism works on the inside and provides compelling evidence about how Washington politics sabotaged the CIA’s efforts to root out the world’s deadliest terrorists.

*In 1996, Osama bin Laden established a strategic alliance with Iran to coordinate terrorist attacks against the United States. * In 1995, the National Security Council intentionally aborted a military coup d’etat against Saddam Hussein, forgoing the last opportunity to get rid of him. * In 1991, the CIA intentionally shut down its operations in Afghanistan and Saudi Arabia, and ignored fundamentalists operating there.
