Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE) Frequently Asked Questions What is WUE? The Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE) program offers a reduced tuition rate to eligible freshman and transfer students who are residents of Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, The Commonwealth of Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI), Utah, Washington, or Wyoming. Full-time students are eligible for the WUE tuition rate every year until they graduate. How much will students from WUE states save each year? The WUE program offers substantial savings. WUE tuition is 150% of the California resident rate. Cost of attendance estimates are available online. Which programs are eligible for WUE? You may major in any open undergraduate major (except fully online majors) offered at Cal State East Bay. If I am eligible for WUE, am I guaranteed admission to Cal State East Bay? No. You must meet all non-California resident admission requirements for Cal State East Bay. See edu/apply for details. How do I apply for WUE at Cal State East Bay? Step 1: Apply for admission to Cal State East Bay following the steps on our web site (Only undergraduate students can receive WUE fees. Graduate students may be eligible for WRGP, which is similar to WUE.) Step 2: Submit a WUE Participation Agreement Form and follow the instructions on the form. After the WUE request is received, a reply will be sent to you from our WUE Coordinator informing you of the status of your application. Is there a limit to the number of WUE students who can be accepted at Cal State East Bay? There is no limit on the number of WUE students we can accept per year. If you meet both the Cal State East Bay admission and WUE requirements, and follow all deadlines, then you will be eligible for admission as a WUE student. Can I receive the WUE benefit and later become a California resident for tuition purposes? No, initial WUE awards and continued eligibility are based upon residence in a WUE member state other than California. You must maintain fulltime status of 12 units or more while enrolled each term at Cal State East Bay (except summer quarter). You must remain in good academic standing, achieving at least a 2.0 GPA each term while in the WUE program. If you wish to change your residency, you will have to stop participating in the WUE program for a minimum of one year and meet the requirements for reclassification. Where can I get more information about WUE? Contact Cal State East Bay’s WUE Coordinator, Dave Vasquez at (510) , or csueastbay.edu or visit Visit us on Facebook: Planning a visit to the San Francisco Bay Area?
