Sing a long with me! I Am A Little Seed I am a little seed I’m planted in the ground I drink a little rain I open up my shell I see my root come out I’m pushing up my stem I’m climbing toward the sun I make a brand, new leaf I sprout a tiny bud I bloom into a flower I give you oxygen I make a little seed I am a little seed

How do they grow?

What is the life cycle?

The Driving Question: How do plants impact our lives?

One way is that we eat them... Think about all the vegetables and fruit that you eat. They are all plants or come from plants. Think about the meat you eat. The animals the meat comes from they eat plants too!

We Wear Them… Most of our clothing are made from plants such as Cotton, Rayon, Linen and many more! If you check the tag on your shirt or pants you can find out which plants helped make your clothing!

We give them as gifts Valentines Day, Birthdays’ and as a nice gesture people send plants/flowers as gifts!

We use them for medicine.. A lot of our medicines we take everyday come from plants! Scientist even believe there are more plants out there that could be the cure for cancer and other things

We even use plants when we are sleeping.. Plants are used to clean the air by removing carbon dioxide and putting the oxygen back into the air we breath Without plants there would be no life on our planet!

So…what do plants have to do with you? You eat them, drink them, sleep with them, walk on them, breathe them, shelter under them, drive with them, wear them, get cured by them… not much then?

Can you think of other ways?

Now it’s time to investigate… Are you ready?

You will grow plants and answer your questions along the way as we investigate how plants impact our lives. To finish our investigation we will have a plant sale!! Can you tell me how this impacts our lives too?

A Plant Sale? How? Pick a type of plant that we can grow here in our area! Plant, care for and investigate the life of our plants. Record our observations. Advertise to our community. Sell! Sell! Sell!
