Plant Phyla By: Ashley Gates

Bryophyta common name is mosses scientific name is Bryophyta  they belong to the seedless nonvascular group of plants have crude leaves and stems but no roots  find in damp and dark places reproduce sexually through alternating generations Examples: Copper Moss,Bryum Moss, and Arctoa Moss Divided into three classes: Peat Moss,Granite Moss and     "True" Moss (Bryopsida and Musci)

Hepatophyta common name is liverworts scientific name is Hepatophyta they belong to the seedless nonvascular group of plants  flattened ribbon like or branching structures found in deep shade and moist areas reproduce asexually primarily by fragmentation liverworts, hepaticae, marchantiophyta liverworts were used to held cure problems with the liver

Anthocerophyta common name is hornwort scientific name is Anthocerophyta belongs to the seedless nonvascular group of plants a mound of ruffled,dark-green leaflets  found in moist soil  reproduce asexually or sexually through framentation hornwort phylum comprising about 100 species of simple nonvascular plants

Lycophyta common name is club moss scientific name is Lycophyta belong to the seedless vascular group of plants true roots, stems and leaves/ spiral of small leaves  found in moist areas reproduce asexually or sexually been used for Christmas decorations club moss and quilworts

Pterophyta common name is ferns scientific name is Pterophyta belongs to the seedless vascular group of plants  true roots and stems, and has leaves called fronds found in moist areas reproduce asexually  bears paw, fiddle heads, and ferns may have vertical or horizontal stems   cycas and microcycas

Cycadophyta common name is cycads scientific name is Cycadophyta belongs to the cone bearing group of plants palm like evergreen leaves surrounding the trunk and cones only grow in tropical and subtropical regions reproduce asexually or sexually  cycas and microcycas  known to be as 1,ooo years old

Ginkgophyta common name is ginkgo scientific name is Ginkgophyta belongs to the cone bearing group of plants  fan shaped leaves, stems, and branches with shoots grow in well watered and well drained areas reproduces sexually ginkgo is a living fossil

Coniferophyta common name is conifers scientific name is Coniferophyta belongs to the cone bearing group of plants  needle like leaves, and seeds found in a cone found in northern hemisphere  reproduces sexually pines, cider, redwood, juniper, cypress, and yew trees  more than 550 species of evergreen woody

Anthophyta common name is flowering plants scientific name is Anthophyta belongs to the flowering group of plants  has leaves, stems, and roots  found in higher latitude reproduce by pollination or by seeds palm trees, corn, orchids, sunflowers etc.  largest group of plants
