1 Peter 3:1-3 1 Wives, likewise, be submissive to your own husbands, that even if some do not obey the word, they, without a word, may be won by the conduct of their wives, 2 when they observe your chaste conduct accompanied by fear. 3 Do not let your adornment be merely outward-- arranging the hair, wearing gold, or putting on fine apparel--

1 Peter 3:4-6 4 rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God. 5 For in this manner, in former times, the holy women who trusted in God also adorned themselves, being submissive to their own husbands, 6 as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord, whose daughters you are if you do good and are not afraid with any terror.

Introduction  Girl hears story of Snow White  Mother says, “They lived happily every after.”  Girl says, “No. They got married.”  1 Peter 3 is addressed those who married the “wrong kind of husband.”  In building a home – wives must bring some of the bricks.

1] BEHAVIOR – VS. 2 “when they observe your chaste conduct accompanied by fear.”  Conversation (KJV) = conduct, life style, manner of living  Behold (KJV) = observe, look closely  Watch with intent  Pay attention to every detail  Like a man does watching the replay of a football game on TV

2] APPEARANCE – VS. 3 Do not let your adornment be merely outward-- arranging the hair, wearing gold, or putting on fine apparel--  It is not wrong to look nice, neat appearance  But – Peter says:  Keep it in balance  Spend time and money on appearance  Spend some time on the inside, also

3] ATTITUDE – VS. 4 rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God.  Hidden person of the heart  Not corrupt  Meek - gentle  Quiet – tranquil, not boisterous

4] RESPONSE – VS. 5 For in this manner, in former times, the holy women who trusted in God also adorned themselves, being submissive to their own husbands,  Obeyed – Submissive  Pay attention to, listen, heed, be attentive  Disobey = don't pay attention  This does not make the man – drill sergeant  This does not make the woman - slave

4] RESPONSE – VS. 5 For in this manner, in former times, the holy women who trusted in God also adorned themselves, being submissive to their own husbands,  Note on Abraham's tent - “Abe, Mutton pie in oven. Gone to Torah study with ladies at Bethel. Took small chariot. Be home late. Don't worry. Be sure to give Ishmael some herbs for cough at sundown. And bathe Isaac.
