CBPS PREVENTION NETWORK 2 PROJECT SPRAOI Objectives The objectives of ‘Project Spraoi’ are to: Increase physical activity levels Improve dietary habits Reduce levels of overweight/ obesity among Irish primary school children Main Activities Support school delivery of ‘Project Spraoi’ intervention Promotion of daily ‘huff and puff’ Delivery of nutritional lessons Target Groups Primary school children (5-12 years) School staff (e.g. teachers, principal, Special Needs Assistants) Parents and wider community Communication Tools School based intervention delivery Fridge magnets, newsletters, tip sheets In-service workshops and resource development for teachers. CBPS PREVENTION NETWORK 3 PROGRAMME DEVELOPMENT Updates since the last European Obesity Forum, Nov  Completed evaluation of intervention in schools (6 intervention; 3 control). This data is currently being analyzed  Project Spraoi findings presented at ‘International Society of Behavioral Nutrition and Physical Activity’ (June 2015) and the ‘All Ireland Postgraduate Conference in Sport Science & Physical Education’ (Jan 2015)  Recruited new Energizer to start in September 2015  Dr. Con Burns has received support from host Institute to devote 50% Workload in 2015/16 academic year to gain further political support and develop public/ private partnerships  Submitted paper detailing methodological approach used in Project Spraoi to ‘Contemporary Clinical Trials’
