ISTE Standards for Teachers Anja Whitehead IDT 3600 Fall 2015

The Five ISTE Standards for Teachers Facilitate and inspire student learning and creativity Design and develop digital age learning experiences and assessments Model digital age work and learning Promote and model digital citizenship and responsibility Engage in professional growth and leadership

Facilitate and inspire student learning and creativity Teachers use their knowledge of subject matter, teaching and learning, and technology o facilitate experience that advance student learning, creativity, and innovation in both face–to-face and virtual environments. a.Promote, support and model creative and innovative thinking and inventiveness. b.Engage students in exploring real- world issues and solving authentic problems using digital tools and resources. How did your work in this course prepare you to Facilitate and Inspire Student Learning and Creativity? To help facilitate and inspire students with learning and creativity I created a power point on the H20. The power point include fun facts and the process of how H20 works. There were different visuals, pictures and different concepts to give students and idea on what H20 is and what it represents.

Design and develop digital age learning experiences and assessments Technology designs, develop and evaluate authentic learning experience and assessments incorporating contemporary tools and resources to maximize content learning and context and to develop the knowledge skills and attitudes identified in the Standards. a. Design or adapt relevant learning experiences that incorporate digital tools and resources to promote student learning and creativity. b. Develop technology-enriched learning environments that enable all students to pursue their individual curiosities and become active participants in setting their own educational goals, managing their own learning and assessing their own progress. How did your work in this course prepare you to Design and Develop Digital Age Learning Experiences and Assessments? Mobile learning is a good example of this ISTE standard. I choose a lesson plan where students could go out and use community resources. Students were sent out on a scavenger hunt to find and locate certain landmarks or artifacts about the community they lived in. The tools needed for this assignment were a cell phone and a computer (web access).

Model digital age work and learning Teachers exhibit knowledge, skills and work processes representative of an innovative professional in a global and digital society. b. Collaborate with students peers, parents, and community members using digital tools and resources to support student success and innovation c. Communicate relevant information and ideas effectively to students, parents and peers using a variety of digital age media and formats How did your work in this course prepare you to Model Digital Age Work and learning? News letters, handouts, s and classroom websites are great tools to use to communicate with students, parents, and the community. I have created a classroom website to give students and parents a way to communicate with me on a every day basis. Students can access the website to do homework and have access to our classroom. Parents can utilize the classroom website to stay in contact with me and communicate with me as far as what is going on in our classroom.

Promote and model digital citizenship and responsibility Teacher understand local and global societal issues and responsibilities in an evolving digital culture and exhibit legal and ethical behavior in their professional practices. b. Address the diverse needs of all learners by using learner- centered strategies providing equitable access to appropriate digital tools and resources. How did your work I this course prepare you to Promote and Model Digital Citizenship and Responsibilities? Every assignment, lecture and discussion done in this class models this ISTE standard. This class has taught me how to use technology, media and other digital resources to incorporate in my class. Every assignments has is own affect and outcome on how you interact and engage your students.

Engage in professional growth and leadership Teachers continuously improve their professional practice, model lifelong learning and exhibit leadership in their school and professional community by promoting and demonstrating the effective use of digital tools and resources. d. Contribute to the effectiveness, vitality and self renewal of the teaching profession and of their school and community. How did your work in this course allow you to Engage in professional Growth and Leadership? Video editing, Screen Cast and Audio Captures are ways to enhance the learning capabilities of all learners.
