Greening industry present new mission and challenges for environmental service sector. Resource efficiency service sector is essential for wide adoption of sustainable production practices in SMEs. There are specific barriers in Asian that need to be addressed. Comments 2

SWITCH-Asia project example 2 7 Mainstreaming Energy Efficiency through Business Innovation Support - Vietnam

Fostering resource efficiency service sector Lack of capacities in SMEs; Lack of supply of resource efficient products and technology Inadequate marketing capacity of RE services. Challenges Results:  Commercial sales of RE packages to over 750 SMEs. Urban SMEs RE services and their supply chain Finance sector Target group Smart support for SMEs; Innovation packages; Marketing support for RE solution providers; Strengthening the supply chain. Actions 8

Development fund and donor agency programmes provide free access to certain techniques/products, which un-intentionally spoil the market. Lack of marketing capacity and culture among RE technique/product suppliers. Need to build trust - culture of paying for equipment, not for services. Business associations can play a role in providing RE service where RE services are not developed yet. Some specific issues regarding RE Services in Asia 9
