Authoring Software  An authoring tool is an installable program that allows you to create materials in electronic format which can be distributed on a CD-ROM, DVD, USB pen drive, floppy disk or via a web page to your learners

What is QuizFaber?  It is a free tool  Compatible with Windows 95/98/Me/Vista  Versions: 2.9, 2.9.1, 2.10 Beta, 2.10  It is created by Luca Galli who is an electronic engineer. 4  It is a tool that allows you to create easily and rapidly multimedia quizzes in HTML with a JavaScript, embedded in the HTML page.

What types of questions?  QuizFaber create and manage many different types of questions:  Questions with multiple choice  Questions with multiple answers  True or false questions.  Question with an open answer  Gap filling exercises  Matching words 5

What are the advantages?  Make a quiz not only a simple self valuation tools but a versatile program in order to store result of a quiz exam.  Build statistics of quiz results, for year, for student, for quiz.

What are the features?  Make hypertext quiz (or HTML pages).  Insert of multimedia objects (images, sounds, Java applet) into answers and questions.  At the end of the quiz, there is immediatly the valuation (with a mark)  Set the highest time for complete the quiz.  Make WAP quiz (for WAP-enabled mobile phone)

How to store quiz results into your PC?  QuizFaber can be configured to produce web quizzes that runs in a client-server manner  The main advantage is store in a permanent way all the quizzes results and browse them at every time with a simple web page

What is WAP quiz?  Features  Type of questions: multiple answers (one or more than one answer could be the rigth one) and/or multiple choice (only one answer was the rigth one)  Automatic quiz correction, with a final score.  (in a next version) Score will be saved using Java Servlet (to be installed on a web server)

What is Hot Potatoes?  It is a small Windows or Mac program that creates a variety of exercies.  It is not freeware, but it is free of charge for those working for publicly-funded non- profit-making educational institutions. 10
