22/10/2002 LAL Site Report - HEPix - FNAL 2002 Mail Service Still based on Sendmail + IMAP Virus/Spam filtering project just started –Filtering based on message headers criteria rather than contents, using Sendmail milter API More efficient than antivirus, preserve Sendmail advanced features Most viruses can be detected by attachment types Heuristic can be applied to detect spammers –Restrict relaying with authenticated SMTP Upgrade IMAP server to Cyrus v2 –Interested by any experience with Cyrus v2

22/10/2002 LAL Site Report - HEPix - FNAL 2002 Windows Infrastructure Desktops –Windows XP deployment on new laptops Server –Replacement of old unattended installation infrastructure by W2K RIS (PXE based) CERN PrinterWizzard in production –Works pretty well –Two main issues : Handling of drivers for some printer types Ability to use PrinterWizzard at LAL and at CERN
