Homework Feedback November

Remember if you do not complete the second half of the question you automatically lose marks!

Q5. Reasons for rejecting Option 2: My opponents would say installing CCTV cameras would not make a difference. Source 1 shows, “a case study in the Greater Glasgow area could find no link between the installation of CCTV cameras and a reduction in crime.” But they are wrong because, Source 2 shows, there was a 20% reduction in crime in the city in the year after the installation of CCTV. My opponents would also say installing CCTV cameras is an invasion of privacy. Source 1 shows, “Many members of the public are concerned that more CCTV means a loss of civil liberties and an invasion of their private lives.” But they are wrong because source 3 also shows, “law abiding citizens have nothing to fear from CCTV.”

Q6. Reasons for rejection Option 2: My opponents would say Community Wardens harass young people in the community. Source 1 show, “Some young people feel that community wardens were being introduced to control their behaviour…” But they are wrong because, source 2 shows 49% of people feel their relationship with their community warden is very good and 20% of people feel that it is excellent. My opponents would also say Community Wardens are just a cheap option, “Source 3 shows Community wardens are trying to do the job of the police on the cheap, but they will never be as effective as fully trained police officers.” But they are wrong because, source 2 shows, “they can stop trouble before it happens.”
