Poll Time! Throughout seminar, I may do a poll. A poll window will pop up on your screen, with a question, and below you will have choices to select. The purpose of polls is to reinforce key information that I feel is important for you to know. Please do not type your answer in the class activity box for everyone to see. The polls are completely anonymous, no one knows who votes how (including me), so don’t worry if you don’t get one right…it’s ok

Recognize strategies for effective time management. Identify the steps for managing time effectively

Time Management Assess current use of time Set priorities Devise a time schedule Use unscheduled time

Time Management Time management has five main aspects: Getting Results Your Time Dealing with other People Managing Yourself Planning & Goal Setting

Time Management 1. Know where the hours are going 2. Keep focused on the end result 3. Work to defined priorities 4. Schedule time for important issues 5. Delegate routine tasks and responsibility for them 6. Confront your own indecision and delay 7. Take the stress out of your life

Analysis of Goals & Objectives Specific and well defined objectives Measurable outputs and inputs Achievable in terms of resources available and expectations Relevant to the overall business strategy Time bound with an operational schedule

Time-Based Management Is the allotted time for completion of plans realistic? In the effort to achieve results, is efficient use made of the available time? For teams - how can the time available be used to generate the optimal results? Is task-related time management appropriate and realistic in the situation?

Assignment – Personality and Professional Traits Questionnaire Have you thought about how your strengths and weaknesses will apply in your chosen profession? For this unit’s assignment, you will research your profession, and fill out a questionnaire. After completing both of these steps, you will then write a 1- 2 page summary (at least 800 words) of what you learned.

First, go to the website: and enter your profession into the Search box at the top right of your screen. Please note that your exact search terms may not come up, but what is listed will be similar. For example, if “Healthcare Administrator” is entered, it does not appear verbatim, but “Medical and Health Services Manager” does and is a close match, which is appropriate for you to use. Click on the link of your profession, and review the “Personality section.” Be sure to take notes, or print this information for your reference.

After you are done researching your profession, come back to the home page of and begin taking the questionnaire by clicking the “Next” button that you’ll see on the bottom right corner. Continue hitting the “Next” button until you complete all 60 questions, so allow time to answer all of them. Once you get your results, save or print them for your reference.

In a 1-2 page paper (double spaced, 12 font), describe how your results from the survey fit with the specified personality and other skill sets of your profession. Then, describe the areas where you need to grow (for example, if the job required you to be detail oriented but you are not, what actions will you take to become more detail oriented).
