The system that sets up and enforces a society’s laws.

-First form of government -Government receives power from the people -derives from a Greek word that means “rule of the people” -EVERY citizen has an active role in the political process

LIMITED & UNLIMITED

Everyone, including those in charge, must obey the laws! THE GOVERNMENT HAS LIMITS TO ITS POWERS!!

Decisions are made based on religious beliefs (Iran, Vatican City)
