Expression-Based Inductive Learning

KCAS Grade 8 Expressions and Equations (8.EE) Analyze and solve linear equations and pairs of simultaneous linear equations. Standard (8.EE.7) – Solve linear equations in one variable. I can classify linear equations in one variable into four types.

Students pair up to look over the equations and group them into at least four sets based on three criteria: 1. Each equation must be placed in one and only one group. 2. Each group must have at least three equations. 3.You must be able to explain in one sentence the reason for your grouping.

Working as a pair, create your own equation that fits a category. Create one equation for each of the four categories. Write it on a 3x5 card and tape it onto the wall in the correct area.
