CMLDP OC Donations Subcommittee Presented to the NCMA Board of Directors March 24, 2012 By: Bill Daniel, Chair, Donations Subcommittee

22 Current Status No established purpose for the fund No established process for receipt or disbursement of funds Currently funds are not segregated from the NCMA general fund –Funds are tracked via a balance –Deferred Education Revenue for the purposes of CMLDP Fund currently contains $13,000 –All donations to date from NCMA chapters

3 3 Define Purpose of Fund Proposed purposes: –Defray program participation costs for students who do not have complete company or chapter support –Direct support of the program itself Defray costs of supplemental program activities –e.g. outside speakers or team building activity Defray costs of publicizing program and fund –e.g. publication of printed material or advertisement Defray costs for program enhancements –e.g. certification of new trainer, NRE for new course development, creation of on-line resources

2 4 Not Included In the Purpose At this time we would not propose using the fund for –Regular program costs and activities –Paying the added costs to increase the size of any particular cohort –Paying for CMLDP alumni relations or activities

3 5 Proposed Actions Establish a separate bank account to contain funds Establish procedures for requesting disbursement: –Suggest coordinating procedures with those for the distribution of other funds such as Chapter Grants –Procedures should cover requests both by applicants as well as current program participants –Procedures to allow committee to disburse funds on its own or perhaps by request from CMLDP Oversight committee e.g. program promotion or enhancement costs –Procedures to allow disbursement via request from CMLDP program lead?

5 7 Proposed Actions Establish committee to distribute the funds –Suggest 3 or 5 members –Need to establish how committee members are selected; do they come from CMLDP Oversight committee? are they independent of the Oversight committee? how are they selected, by whom and what criteria? Establish procedures for receipt of funds Establish procedure and authority for release of funds Establish record keeping requirements

6 8 Proposed Actions Start campaign to promote contribution to fund –Establish criteria to award points in Graalman applications e.g. donation of $500 or more one year gets one point; donation of $1,000 or more or for $500 or more for 2 consecutive years or more earns 2 points Actual criteria and points to be determined by Graalman committee –Start campaign to increase awareness of fund e.g. printed material, speaker at Mid-Year Conf, advertisement in CM Magazine, etc. –Would like to see corporate support of fund develop –Establish process for recognizing donors E.g. recognition at Mid-Year, recognition in CM Magazine?
