Sorting is when you look to see how objects are different and then put objects in groups.

Cookie Monster had 4 plates of cookies. All the plates had 2 cookies on them except one plate. That plate had 3 cookies.

3 plates of cookies that had 2 cookies on each plate. One plate of cookies had 3 cookies on it. That is sorting.

Sorting can also be when you match things that look alike into groups.

One fun way to sort objects is by color.

You can sort things by color, shape, size or objects. Here I have a bunch of animals. How can I sort these animals?

You can sort by animal groups. Let’s move the animals into groups.

After I sorted the animals I can see I have a group of 3 dogs, 2 cats and 1 mouse.
