MPM Simulation on Contact

Timestep (upper limit) We cannot expect to simulate waves with a velocity higher than let dynamic information to pass one cell size in just one steps. We can take

Timestep (lower limit) Also we hope to finish the simulation in reasonable (say 1000) steps. If one step takes about 6 second, the whole simulation needs

Plate Velocity Example: The plate velocity can not be too slow, otherwise you need too many steps to complete the simulation.

No Criterion Needed on Contact Give the initial velocities, and let go!

Monte Carlo Simulation

Essence of MC Position change and external force introduce potential change. Lennard-Jones potential

Essence of MD Internal forces External forces

Continuous Simulation Things you can simulate: (1)Displacement, strain, stress field; (2)Number of elements in x and y direction controllable; (3)Variable Young’s modulus to mimic composites. (4)Damage evolution using von Mises criterion.
