Science Project Research Papers The papers are due Tuesday January 5th, 2016

Title Page Include the title of your science fair project and your heading (Name, Date, Class number/grade). The heading should be in the bottom right corner of the paper. The title should be in size 20-32 font, the heading should be size 14. Please see the sample paper attached on my web page.

Format Table of Contents Purpose and Hypothesis Review of Literature Materials and Procedure Results Conclusions Reference List Papers must be typed in size 12 font. Only the headings should be in bold.

Table of Contents You must list every section of the paper and write the page number on which you would find each section. Make sure every page has a number in the upper right hand corner. Purpose and Hypothesis Type your purpose and hypothesis: Ex: Purpose To determine the effect of fertilizer on sunflowers. Hypothesis I think the fertilizer will cause the sunflowers to grow more quickly than the control that only will receive water.

Review of Literature You must read books and internet articles about your topic. You should write a paper that discusses background information about your science fair topic. You can look at scientists who did similar research topics and include information they learned. If you quote an article or book directly you must cite the source. After the quote, put the author’s last name then a comma and the year of publication (Smith, 2002). All sources used must be included in the reference list.

Materials and Procedure List all materials used for the project. Type all steps followed to complete the project. Materials Ex: Sunflower seeds Pots Water fertilizer Procedure List all steps followed to complete the experiment. Number each one.

Results You should include your findings from your experiment. What happened? Include data tables, bar graphs, pictures, etc. These must be labeled.

Conclusion What happened in your experiment? What did you learn? Was your hypothesis correct? Were there any possible errors?

Reference List List all sites and books used for your review of literature. References must be cited using APA style.
