Brainstorm a list of words with the root words hydraaud

Week 5 Greek Root hydra= water hydrate hydraulic anhydrous hydroelectric Latin Root aud= to hear audiovisual audio audition auditorium Academic Words discern interpret

hydrate To replenish with water. After a good workout you must hydrate yourself.

hydraulic It is a machine that is powered by water. Hydraulic cement is a cement that will harden after being combined with water.

anhydrous Does not contain water. There are some anhydrous lotions you can buy which do not contain water.

hydroelectric Electricity powered by water. Hydroelectric power is produced as water passes through a dam, and into a river.

audiovisual To both hear and see. There are some audiovisual dictionaries online where you can hear words as well as see illustrations of them as well.

audio Something you can hear. There are thousands of audio books you can download and listen to.

audition An artist presenting an example of their w work. Anyone can audition for American Idol.

auditorium A place to hear a performance or a demonstration. I had great seats in the auditorium where I could hear and see everything perfectly.

discern To perceive or recognize something. We should have enough intelligence to discern between truth and a lie.

interpret To understand and explain. The evidence is difficult to interpret, therefore she could not solve the case.
