AGENDA  Welcome and Outcomes  Reflections from January  Agency Updates  Leadership Success Stories  Leadership That Article  Edmodo: Let’s try it out!  Lay it on the Line  Reflections & Next Steps

I think a major act of leadership right now, call it a radical act, is to create the places and processes so people can actually learn together, using our experiences. -Margaret J. Wheatley

Outcomes for today  Reflect on our leadership successes  Learn more about various leadership styles  Be introduced to Edmodo   Further our leadership around eliminating the gap  Connect and network with colleagues

Reflection  How have you applied the information learned at the last retreat?  What have you applied/shared with others?  What are you looking forward to learning/discussing today?

Opportunity Gap PSESD Roadmap Strategy Workgroups Cultural Competency Program Work

P-3 Alignment Next Steps  PSESD Vision  Targeted Strategy Workgroup  Harvard Institute Participation

5D Instructional Framework

Find a Partner Each of you will have 3 minutes to share your leadership success story Your job is to listen to each other

Leadership Success Stories  Decide who is A and who is B  “A” will start with 3 min to share a leadership success  Partners remain quiet  The aim is to listen and be heard

Honor the following ground rules:  Listen to each other with respect, without interrupting to comment or ask questions  Speak about your own thoughts, reactions, feelings and experiences, not those of others  During your turn, do not comment on what your partner has said

BREAK

Leadership That Gets Results  Gather in groups of 4-6  Review the Final Word ProtocolFinal Word Protocol  Decide who will begin, and launch into the article discussion

I think a major act of leadership right now, call it a radical act, is to create the places and processes so people can actually learn together, using our experiences. -Margaret J. Wheatley

Edmodo:  What intrigues or excites you?  What concerns you?  What are the practical applications for us to use this tool?  Other thoughts?

LUNCH

Lay it on the Line  Listen to the statement that is read  Line up based on a continuum from strongly agree to strongly disagree  Be prepared to discuss why you choose to stand where you did

Lay it on the Line  The whole child needs to be engaged in order for academic learning to occur.  High standards are a basis for a caring culture.  Data should inform all of our work with children, families, teachers and educational leaders.  All children should be supported emotionally and challenged academically.  I could use the same characteristics to describe both an effective preschool teacher and an effective high school teacher.  Students in the opportunity gap require a greater focus on caring than they do learning.

Reflections  Reflect on your learning from the day  Consider what/how you will share with those you lead  Suggestions for next year?
