GOOD NEWS:)

Lesson 13 Emotional Intelligence pg. 32 Objectives: –Understand the difference between I.Q. (intelligence quotient) and E.Q. (emotional intelligence) –Develop an understanding of Emotional intelligence and the skills it measures

Emotional Intelligence Today, I would like to teach you how to make money, get a job, impress adults, help people to like you, and get the attention you would like that will help you be successful in life. If I could teach you that would you be interested? –Do you know what your I.Q. is? –Have you heard any discussion about how smart someone is? –Do you think you are very smart? –How can you tell if someone is very smart? –What would you base your opinion on and how would you know if you’re right?

Emotional Intelligence That’s a lot of questions! This is what we have found. You will be surprised but at the same time you will agree that you knew it all along… and you did. I.Q.? E.Q.?

Emotional Intelligence Most people in education have been taught that “intelligence” is combined of math and verbal abilities. The way that we measure this is by giving you a test and then scoring it. The result is what we would call your I.Q. or intelligence quotient.

Group Discussion What kinds of skills would you guess make up the emotional scales? Here’s a hint: You have to have these skills to do well in society. You have to have these skills to do well with people. These are the personal skills and “people skills” –that make things happen.
