However, people may not buy the product as they will have to pay the full price, and not shop around for a cheaper option.

PC connection Advantages Can only connect to a PC the company has made, therefore, customers will have to buy the PC in order to connect their phones. Increasing the company’s revenue. Will be made to a high standard, as the original company will produce it. Connection to the computer will be a lot fluid and stronger, if used with a proprietary connector. Will bring in more money for the company, as people will have to buy new connectors from them People will be more careful with their pc connector, so to not break it, reducing waste which will help the environment.

PC connection Disadvantages People might not be prepared to invest money into a computer made by the company as well as a phone; therefore, reducing sales of the computers and the phones. Will cost the consumer more to buy a replacement, reducing sales Company will have to hire more people to make/produce the pc connectors Will have to spend time creating a new pc connection, prolonging the release of the phone, possibly loosing sales If there is a simpler option for the customer, they might pick that then have to go through the hassle of buying a new computer as well as a ne phone

Messaging service Advantages Can be used along side SMS (Text message) Will be free for the consumer, as will be used via internet (iMessage, BBM) Can be sent to other products made by the same company, e.g. phone to computer Messages can be sent to addresses instead of just phone numbers, making it immune to phone number changes Messages to and from people with the same phone and messaging service, will be sent and received quicker

Messaging service Disadvantages Can only be sent to, and received by people who are using the same brand of phones. Most carrier plans nowadays give unlimited texting by default, meaning it is a wasted effort Can be sent to other products made by the same company, e.g. phone to computer Won’t receive messages in low/no internet zones Messages can fail to send with no internet connection, meaning the customer will have to use a SMS from there monthly allowance.

Charger Advantages People will be more careful with their chargers, so to not break it, reducing waste which will help the environment. No cheap bootleg chargers, meaning all will be of high quality If people begin to develop bootlegs, the charger can be changed in the newest model of the product. Increase companies revenue as people will have to buy chargers directly from them Will fit other products made by the company, so can be used on multiple devices.

Charger Disadvantages Can be a hassle to make for the company, as they will have to design and make a whole new connection Have to employ more people to make the chargers People will be annoyed that they have to buy the most expensive new charger, when the old one breaks, because they won’t have the option to shop around for a cheaper alterative If the customer has only one charger and loses it/breaks it they will have no way of charging their phone When new products are released with a different charger, the old ones will be left redundant and thrown away, harming the environment
